At Vibe Studios we don't believe in having a set uniform for all classes. Students should be able to show their own personalities through their style and clothing especially for things like hip hop and break. However, we do require suitable clothing for dance, including minimal jewellery and hair out of faces. There are some exceptions to this, in particular ballet and troupe students.

 

PRE-SCHOOL CLASSES

We encourage our littlest dancers to dress up and get excited about their dance classes. Therefore we accept fairy dresses, tutus and regular old shorts and a t-shirt! Bare fee are best for Mummy and Me, Munchkins and jazz.  Tap shoes are required for tap.  Ballet shoes are required for ballet.

CECCHETTI EXAM CLASSES

Cecchetti classes require a specific uniform. These can be purchased from Dance Art in Croydon. Please note that for classes, students may wear either the Vibe Studios uniform or the Cecchetti uniform. The below uniform will be required for the exam.

GIRLS - 

All students to wear Energetiks wide strap leotard.

Code AL11 and CL11

No skirts are required.

COLOURS

Grade 1 & 2 - Lilac

Grade 3 & 4 - Cerise

Grade 5 & 6 - Aubergine

All girls to wear pink tights and pink leather ballet shoes. Grade 1 & 2 elastics only. Grade 3 and up ribbons on their ballet shoes (please no elastic type ribbons). 

We also recommend for the colder months the knitted dance jumper or a crossover.

BOYS - 

Grade 1 - 3 Black bike shorts and white fitted t-shirt. Long white socks and white ballets shoes with white elastic.

Grade 4-Majors White cap sleeve scoop neck leotard with navy tights. White 3/4 socks and White shoes with white elastics. OR Navy cap sleeve scoop neck all-over with white 3/4 socks and White shoes with white elastics. Please discuss with Miss Claire prior to purchasing.

BALLET AND POINTE

It is vital for the teacher to be able to see the alignment and shapes that the student is making. We have a studio uniform that can be purchased at Vibe. All ballet students are required to have a leotard and then may also wear a skirt or shorts. Ballet tights and shoes are also required for all ballet students.

 

CHEERLEADING AND TUMBLING

Leggings or shorts accompanied with a tank or crop top is acceptable. Our teams wear plain white cheer shoes.  Most brands of cheer shoes are acceptable.  The most popular ones are Kaepa and Nfinity.  Members of non-competitive cheer teams that do not wish to purchase the more expensive cheer shoes shoes are asked to wear firm-fitting, secure and clean runners.

 

JAZZ, CONTEMPORARY, TECHNIQUE, MUSICAL THEATRE, BOOTY BARRE AND TAP

Leggings or shorts accompanied with a tank top or leotard is acceptable. Please do not wear loose fitting shorts. Bare feet, foot undies, half soles and black split sole jazz shoes are the accepted footwear.  Bare feet are acceptable only for the initial few weeks of tap, then black tap shoes are required.  We also suggest soft knee pads to protect knees during floor work.

 

HIP HOP, BREAK, POPPING AND LOCKING AND BOYS ONLY

Basically, if you can move and stretch in it, it is acceptable. Trackies and tank tops are acceptable, but NO denim. It is important to make sure you can stretch. Runners are recommended footwear. We also suggest soft knee pads to protect knees during floor work.

 

SHOOTING STARS AND JAZZ LEVELS

In exam classes and shooting stars classes, it is vital for the teacher to be able to see the body.  Therefore, we require a leotard to be worn.  A set uniform can be ordered through reception.  The set uniform must be worn on Exam days and to classes.  Black split sole jazz shoes are required for jazz classes.
